Xiaomi Smacks the iPhone 6 Plus With a Frying Pan in New Ad

Xiaomi hasn’t been afraid to take on Apple directly—at least in China where it has the home-field advantage—and a new ad for the Mi Note takes a clear shot at the iPhone 6 Plus.

The short video, posted to the company’s official YouTube page, shows a group of apparent scientists trying to “fix” the new iPhone’s protruding rear camera with a frying pan. After whacking the device several times it magically transforms into the Mi Note, which features a 13-megapixel rear camera that’s flush with the rest of the device. It’s a funny ad, though whether Xiaomi can actually take on Apple’s impressive image processing remains to be seen.

On paper, the Mi Note is a solid device, though we prefer the flashier Mi Note Pro. The cheaper handset packs a 5.7-inch 1080p display, a Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB of RAM, a 3000mAh battery, 16GB of storage and dual SIM card slots for just ¥2299 (roughly $370).
